Hospitals on FHIR – Implementing the EU Lab Report in Your Hospital: Implementation Guides

This fourth session of the Hospitals on FHIR webinar series focuses on Implementation Guides and their role in translating interoperability standards into practical deployment in hospital environments.
As hospitals move from strategic alignment with the EU Lab Report and EHDS requirements to concrete technical implementation, Implementation Guides become essential tools. They provide structured specifications, usage constraints and real-world guidance to ensure consistent and interoperable data exchange.
Delivered by Giorgio Cangioli (HL7 Europe), this 30-minute session will explore how Implementation Guides support laboratory interoperability, facilitate HL7 FHIR adoption and help hospitals operationalise European digital health requirements.
Building on the previous sessions covering data domains, terminology and FHIR foundations, this webinar consolidates the implementation pathway and offers practical insights for healthcare organisations and IT teams working towards EHDS readiness.
🔹 Speaker:
Giorgio Cangioli (HL7 Europe) – Senior interoperability consultant, Technical Lead and Board Member of HL7 Europe.
