XiA Advisory Board: building expert guidance for digital health interoperability

The Xpanding Innovative Alliance (XiA) is pleased to announce the establishment of its Advisory Board, marking an important step in supporting the project’s mission: equipping Europe’s healthcare ecosystem with the skills and knowledge needed to implement advanced interoperability standards as part of the European Health Data Space (EHDS)

A structured, two-level Advisory Board

To ensure both strategic guidance and operational flexibility, the XiA Advisory Board is structured around two complementary levels:

  • Main Advisory Board (AB): A core group of selected experts providing strategic and scientific direction, ensuring alignment with real-world needs across interoperability, education, and digital health policy.
  • Individual Technical Advisors (ITAs): Specialists available for targeted consultations on specific technical or educational topics.

After a thorough selection process — with 57 nominations received from across Europe — XiA has built a diverse and representative body, bringing together expertise from international organizations, academia, and digital health networks.

We are also pleased to confirm that Professor Philip Scott, University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has been appointed as Chair of the Advisory Board. In this role, he will coordinate activities, facilitate communication between members, and act as the main liaison with the ITAs.
